Just when you think you can relax after knocking out a chore or two, several more pop up.
In June, I decided to change my posting rhythm to every other Sunday. I’m back in the office 3 days a week, and trying to crank out a weekly comic has been taking it’s toll on me. I have been at this regularly for around 2-3 years now. But it’s time to slow things down to see where I want to go with the comic.
One thing I am considering is self-publishing a print version of the comic, which will contain some content not available online, and go into Amy’s backstory a bit more. I have started writing the initial drafts of the pages, and figuring out how to organize it. I’m envisioning more of a traditional comic format, as this will be designed with print in mind. My goal is to have this done by end of 2023, but we will see how this goes…
I’ve also been wanting to participate more in art challenges to help improve my art and also collaborate with fellow creators on social media. Last year, the comic was growing really well on Instagram, but this year the growth has been terrible. I’ve also been trying to learn some animation and started a TikTok page to feature some of my (really bad) animations.
Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

Are you a comic artist on Instagram or Twitter? I’m teaming up with the hilariously talented @Zoodraws to celebrate Library Month by hosting a weekly drawing challenge. Post a comic based on a book each week with #frombooks2comics and we’ll share it on Instagram/Twitter.
I’m so excited to see all the amazing entries from our fellow comic creators! Follow the hashtag on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/frombooks2comics/

Due to the holidays, and learning a new digital drawing software, there will not be a new strip this week. On the upside, 2020 is almost over!
In the meantime, here’s a new profile picture of Amy created in the new software (Clip Studio Paint). It is totally premium and a huge upgrade from what I’ve been using, so it can only get better from here, right? :p

In line with the COVID-19 theme, plus my initiative to publish comics in storybook mode, I have updated this classic from 2017. View the comic on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adultingamy/
